Organization: Dawning Family Services

D.O. More Tampa was started by local third year medical students in the Tampa Bay area. They decided to partner with an extraordinary organization called Dawning Family Services. Their mission is to “create sustainable change in the lives of our community’s most vulnerable families." They are one of the few homeless shelters that incorporate a “Rapid Re-Housing (RRH) Program” which provides financial assistance for housing (security, rent, utilities) and case managers for the families post-shelter. Last year, Dawning Family Services served and assisted 77 families, including 192 children, into emergency shelter. 77% of families left the shelter and now reside in permanent housing post-shelter. D.O. More Tampa had a very successful first fundraiser in 2022 with this organization; they were able to raise funds to provide 150 “Blessings in a Bag” to their clients in need. These bags contained multiple items such as hygiene products, toiletries, snacks, diapers, and even children’s toys!
